Ski vacation in Maranza
Perfect conditions in the
ski area Gitschberg-Val Giovo
Not only climatically, Maranza is always on the sunny side. If you spend your ski holiday in Maranza, you will enjoy plenty of winter sun. Right before our doorstep you will find the ideal conditions for skiing. The ski area Gitschberg-Val Giovo offers you the double pleasure of choosing between two popular South Tyrolean ski areas. There is a direct connection between the two areas, which allows you to take advantage of 55 km of well-prepared ski slopes and 15 modern ski lifts, a snow park, the fun ride with steep curves, small jumps, tunnels etc., three children’s parks, the two certified ski schools on the southern slopes of the Fundres mountains and the two snow-covered sled tracks with a total length of 10km that are both reachable with lifts. Enjoy skiing together with your children! The ski area of Gitschberg-Val Giovo is one of the most child-friendly ski resorts in Italy.
Ski slopes
for every taste
Just above Maranza, the local mountain Gitsch offers ski slopes with snow guarantee, located between 1,300 and 2,500 meters of altitude. The slopes are suitable for all demands – from beginners to experts. When you ski on Mount Gitschberg, a unique panoramic view will surprise you. From the 360° panoramic platform on the summit, you may admire 500 snow-capped peaks and the Dolomites while enjoying culinary specialties and traditional delicacies in rustic mountain hats. The longest downhill slope in the area Gitschberg-Val Giovo is 6 km long – with an altitude difference of 1,118 meters – and takes from Mount Gitschberg to Maranza. The most challenging slope is called Mitterling. Although it is only 1 km long, it has a slope of 38 degrees!
Many offers
for skiing holidays with children
We also recommend the medium slope Nesselbahn. And while the parents put their skills to the test on the slopes, the children have fun at the Bambino Club Valles. The Kids’ Park offers professional child care – unless your children prefer to take ski or snowboard lessons at the ski school. During your ski holiday in Maranza every day you will enjoy many new adventures and experiences.
Sledding in Meransen
For our sledding friends there is a new prolonged natural sledding track on the Gitschberg in Meransen that extends from the mountain station of the lift to the valley station – for even more winter fun!
Furthermore there is the artificial ice sledding track in our tennis hall (suitable for both beginners and professionals), which is even used by our national sledding team for training purposes. You certainly won’t be bored when looking for the ultimative sledding experience.

Leisurely winter walks
on the Alpe di Rodengo
Approximately 16 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails extend around Maranza. There is a particularly child-friendly cross-country ski trail near Valles. We also recommend the alpine trail Rodengo-Luson. If you enjoy the peaceful silence of our snowy landscape on cross-country skiers, you will certainly also like winter hikes. The nearby Alpe di Rodengo is ideal for snowshoe hikes: There are panorama trails, quaint alpine huts, and romantic forests – offering a wintery mix of beautiful destinations.
